The PowerScan™ PM9500 area imager is a new ruggedized cordless reader suitable for all demanding applications. It is based on a new generation of the successful Datalogic STAR Cordless System that guarantees wide mobility, high reliability and versatility of the radio communication. The outstanding snappiness combined with the omnidirectional reading makes the PM9500 2D imager the ideal tool, even as a replacement for standard laser scanners. The white LED illumination along with the intuitive aiming system and the scanner ergonomics increase the user comfort and reduce fatigue. An intuitive and effortless scanning experience is the target of the PowerScan™ 9500 series (other models include the Cordless Bluetooth PowerScan PBT9500 and the Corded PowerScan PD9500).
They combine omnidirectional reading capabilities with outstanding optical characteristics. The result is a scanner that is able to read any kind of bar code, regardless of the orientation, from contact to over.

Mobility Enhances Productivity
The Datalogic STAR Cordless System™ for narrow-band radio communications was developed specifically to maximize efficiency and reliability for handheld scanner data collection applications. The PowerScan PM9500 models are equipped with a new generation of the STARSystem™ that further improves the already outstanding features of versatility, ease of use and radio range.
The PM9500 series offers a model with a display and 4 configurable keys to increase the interaction between the host and the user allowing a two-way exchange of information for more reliable and effective communications.
Long lasting battery life guarantees more than one shift of intensive scanning.
Handle shape, well-balanced weight and an intuitive aiming system allows high first-pass reading rates while reducing unnatural wrist movements for improved ergonomics and user comfort.
The PowerScan 9500 area imagers use a soft-pulsed white illumination light that is very gentle on the eyes and less troublesome to the operator during scanintensive applications.
PowerScan PM9500 with DPM Capabilities
Direct Part Marking (DPM) is a process that allows users to imprint a bar code directly on an item instead of printing the code on a paper label.
Different technologies are available to directly mark objects: laser / chemical etching, dot peening and ink jet printing. Each of these methods has specific advantages and disadvantages in terms of durability, cost and ease of reading.
The PowerScan™ PM9500-DPM reader is a cordless rugged handheld area imager specifically addressed and capable of reading codes marked with DPM.
The PowerScan PM9530-DPM imager includes the latest optics and software from Datalogic to make the reading of codes marked with DPM technology easy and intuitive. The typical reading distance is from contact to 4-5 cm / 1.5-1.9 in, depending on the DPM technology used, the code resolution, and the material and surface type. The scanner is also capable of reading standard bar codes printed on labels. It is based on a high density optic which allows the capture of very small, high-resolution codes in a range from near contact up to 15.0 cm / 5.9 in.
